June 8, 2014: Annual Bark-a-Que

Thank you to all our two-legged and four-legged supporters who joined BMR for their 2nd Annual Bark-a-Que on Sunday, June 8, 2014. A pawsitively good time was had by all! We look forward to seeing everyone at our 3rd Annual Bark-a-Que next June!

January 17, 2013: Pet oxygen masks for local fire departments

Thanks to the generosity of two local families that provided memorial contributions earmarked for this purpose, BMR has provided two local fire departments, the Westfield NJ Fire Department and Mountainside NJ Fire Department, with enough pet oxygen masks to equip each of their engines. The respective chiefs of each town were contacted and enthusiastically embraced implementation of the pet rescue program, including the addition of pet oxygen kits to their respective departments.

Pet oxygen masks are oxygen masks specifically designed coned shaped to fit the muzzles and snouts of dogs, cats and other household pets. They belong in the hands of fire fighters and other first responders. This life saving equipment offers continuous flow of healthy oxygen helping pets to breathe better in cases of emergencies such as home fires. Far too many pets die every year due to smoke asphyxiation; we are changing the number of successful resuscitation attempts.

Brendan’s Meadows is proud to be able to reach beyond the traditional concept of a rescue organization by contributing essential oxygen kits to these local communities whose residents have been so generous and instrumental in the growth and success of our rescue. Although we hope there will never be a need, we are happy to provide life saving equipment for the pets of Westfield, Mountainside, and the surrounding communities that will benefit by shared fire department resources.

December 1, 2012: Dog pictures with Santa

Westfield Area- Brendan’s Meadows Rescue held a doggie picture day with Santa at the Scotch Plains Knights of Columbus. Dogs of all shapes and sizes came out to tell Santa their wishes for Christmas 2012 and enjoy a biscuit or two. Thank you to all our supporters who made this event such a big success. Be sure to look out for information next year so that your four legged friend can tell Santa their wishes for Christmas 2013 too! December 2, 2010: Dog pictures with Santa

Westfield Area- Brendan’s Meadows will be holding a picture day at the Scotch Plains Knights of Columbus this Saturday, December 4th. 5 X 7 Pictures of your dog with Santa will be taken for $8 and will include a present for your dog. Pictures will be delivered on site and digital copies can be emailed afterwards. Brendan’s Meadows is a 501(c)3 organization that currently transports and fosters dogs in hopes of finding them forever homes. Volunteers are warmly welcomed! Westfield Leader, June 17, 2010: Brendan’s Meadows Receives 501(c)3

AREA – Brendan’s Meadows is pleased to announce that the IRS has approved its tax-exempt status and that tax-deductible donations can now be accepted.

Brendan’s Meadows was created in memory of Brendan Mooney, who was an avid dog lover and supporter of dog rescue. The goal is to develop a boarding facility that can house 100 dogs, but currently the organization is fostering dogs and transporting them from kill shelters to various safe havens.

Anyone interested in supporting the organization’s efforts in any way should contact Brendan’s Meadows at help@brendansmeadows.com. The group is in desperate need of people who can foster a dog in their home for short periods of time until more permanent arrangements can be made.

All costs of fostering are paid for by Brendan’s Meadows. Local members of the Brendan’s Meadows Board of Directors include Kerry Mooney of Clark, Amy Jester of Westfield, Paul and Claudine Moditz of South Plainfield and Christi Carducci of Cranford.

Westfield Leader, October 22, 2009: Dog Rescue Is Named For Brendan Mooney

AREA – Kerry Mooney, daughter of former Westfield resident Brendan Mooney, has announced the creation of a dog rescue effort called “Brendan’s Meadows.” It is named in honor of her father, who died last November 1.

Brendan’s Meadows will focus on supporting the efforts of other rescue operations by financially supporting foster pets, participating in the transport of dogs from shelters that euthanize to non-kill shelters, and ultimately the creation of a farm for unwanted dogs awaiting their “forever homes.”

Brendan Mooney lived in Westfield for more than 46 years and was an avid supporter of the ASPCA and the Humane Society. He adopted many strays during his lifetime, and will always be remembered for saying that “A house is not a home without a dog.”

The 501(c)3 organization will be based in Clark and has begun the process of applying for non-profit status. Maureen Mooney, and Amy Jester of Westfield are all board members, and Alana Decker of Fanwood also will serve on the board. The rescue group’s website is brendansmeadows.com
